With property values dropping in many low income communities, many residents are moving out of what they call troubled areas because of their surroundings. Harsh conditions, crimes, drugs, low education, lack of love for one another, and a continued loss of life, we knew we had to do something about it. Decision making behind door agendas that are made without a community voice, leads to gentrification in many of these areas. Instead of moving out of these areas - we must improve the conditions, occupy, and buy its properties. If we can change the environment and it's economics, we can change the perception in value of how its residents see their current surroundings.
Fortunately, for many who have come from these areas, and those that still occupy these residential settings, there is a common goal that resonates - it is time for change. Income, education, and occupation all have a significant impact on the social economic status of these communities. Our programs are designed to help empower low-income communities to be more self-sufficient and prosperous. Many of the community residents are faced with these conditions are often left helpless without knowing where to start. DSAI, does not want to build communities by making it dependent by consistently giving a fish, we want to work with the support of its residents teaching how to fish and become independent.
At this time of building, it is not only important to establish an equal platform for all, but it is imperative that we show support of one another in the efforts of building, and create an environment full of unity, love, and respect for each other in order to achieve our common goals.
