W.I.G.S., is a program within Doing Something About It Inc. to help with the emotional struggles that women, young women, female teens, and girls are faced with every day. W.I.G.S members are resilient female role models with different experiences, wisdom, and personal growth. We are coming together to share in the building blocks as mentors to ensure our young ladies turn into the successful women they are destined to be.
W.I.G.S. will have meetings, events, ceremonies, women retreats, share experiences in group discussions, create different workshops, and find the right female mentor within our group in which our young women and girls who are struggling with life’s challenges can relate with, feel comfortable with, and share their thoughts, opinions, and dreams. Also, our mothers and guardians who seek help with their children, can also share the platform to ask for advice and give assistance when needed.
W.I.G.S. does not limit their efforts of connecting to the world as women who want to offer help and change the conditions of so many other young females. We ask other organizations or groups of women, to help in our goal as this is a group effort for the diversity of all women to take one struggling voice at a time
Let's connect through our social media group.
Footprints by Mary Stevenson is a humbling poem of how you aren't alone when you go through troubling times. WIGS is here to tell you that you are not alone, but it starts with the first step. When you recognize you need the support, or you find many people repeating the same message to better your condition, you must say, "Being proactive starts with me," and take the opportunity to reach out to WIGS.
Sometimes getting someone to speak to is hard, and what makes it more difficult is getting someone to listen first. With many troubling statistics, and one pointing at over 14 million girls between the ages of 15 - 19 years old giving birth every year, WIGS is there to open our ears and hearts knowing that our 15 - 19 year old females also die with complications from health risks associated with childbirth than any other cause. Whatever it is, we are there to listen and communicate you.
We are not just speaking from inexperience to say we understand and make conversation without a clear understanding. Some of us have endured a significant amount of damage in our younger years, but our members have found new hope in the process to be better, do better, support better, and can empathize with a true understanding of emotions to make you feel and love yourself better.
If you have a question, ask us on our contact page. To help others, we will post some questions anonymously that many may have wanted to know as well. If you would like to be a part of WIGS - PLEASE reach out to us. Every young female needs a chance. This is what starts our village. This is what creates opportunity for economic and social empowerment. This is...WIGS.
